Although extinct for some time, we decided to bring back a bit of the horn to the Island through this great beer.
The Horned Turtle (Meiolania Platyceps) Thought to have gone extinct about 25,000 years ago, the first fossil was identified on Lord Howe in the 1880’s. This huge unique turtle grew up to 2m long and was armed with a head of horns and a spiked tail. The Horned Turtle would have been a formidable opponent. A skeleton is able to be viewed at the Island Museum.
