It’s sweetly fruited and perfumed, showing blackberry, spiced plum, olive and roasted hazelnut characters on the nose with a seductive nuance of warm spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity together with plump mouthfeel and fleshy texture, finishing gorgeously long and velvety. At its best: now to 2025.

Sourced from the altitudinal Central Ranges around Mudgee. The range is certified organic, holistically incorporating vineyard management and winemaking. Merlot, too often a less-than-inspiring variety on Australian shores, seems to be in the right hands here. Satsuma plum, anise and a verdant swathe of structure serves a medium-bodied, sassy red. Growing with stature in the glass, a plume of coffee bean tannins finishes the ride.
