Riesling is the most important grape for the Clare region and the Clare examples are some of the best the country produces. They have a tremendous ability to age - starting life in a fairly austere mode, with faint aromas of passionfruit, a touch of lime and a steely strength, then as the wine ages it develops the famous Riesling toast character and greater complexity and intensity. They can age for between 5 and 10 years, depending on the quality of the vintage.
