About this product

Award winning vignerons
Ripe blackberries and plums
Lovely example of McLaren Vale Shiraz
Region: Vasarelli Vineyards, McLaren Vale, South Australia.
Colour: Rich deep red, purple hues with excellent concentration.
Nose: Excellent fruit expression with spicy dark berry fruits and licorice aromas backed by hints of toasty cedary vanillin American oak.
Palate: High levels of fruit concentration where ripe blackberries, plums and other dark fruits are combined with spicy nutmeg and chocolate notes. The tannin structure is fine grained yet firm, and provides the length and additional depth of flavour to complete this resulting in a beautiful, mouthfilling wine. It is a wine that will certainly reward careful cellaring.
Oak: French and American oak barrels.
Food Match: Pappardelle with a duck ragout.
Winemaker: Mark Jamieson - Winemaker. Pat and Vicki Vasarelli - Vignerons
Drink Until: 2025
For Pat and Vicki Vasarelli, the pairing of food and wine is as much of an art as their lively marriage. Having emigrated to Australia from central Italy they continue the Italian tradition of making spicy pork sausages, year-long cured prosciutto and strongly flavoured salted cod at their McLaren Vale home. The vineyard covers 40 acres and most of the root stocks are over 40 years old. Prior to establishing their own label, the Vasarellis sold their fruit to Wirra Wirra, Ryecroft and Orlando. Shiraz has led the charge of Australian red wine popularity overseas. It is the variety for Grange and it continues to deliver full bodied reds that are made to age and pair perfectly with food. The McLaren Vale climate produces fruit with loads of flavour. The Vasarelli Vineyard is one such spot, and this wine is a lovely example of the variety.
