From the historic Krondorf label.
Region: Barossa, South Australia.
Colour: Deep red with bright purple hues.
Nose: Dark berry fruits, intense plum and and spice supported by subtle smoky oak.
Palate: Filled with an abundance of berry fruit which has a concentrated layered palate that is well supported by rich tannins and savoury spice notes on the lingering finish.
Oak: 18 months French and American oak.
Food Match: Seared veal liver, braised red cabbage, muscat raisin, confit chestnut.
Winemaker: Richard Quodling.
Drink Until: 2028.
The Krondorf winery dates back to 1860, but it wasn't until the 1970s that the Krondorf label really took off under the guidance of Grant Burge and Ian Wilson. In 1980 they won the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy, which propelled the label into the national spotlight, and Krondorf hasn't looked back winning hundreds of awards since.Krondorf maintains its focus of producing wines that are truly representative of the Barossa Valley. Over the years the winery has forged strong relationships with local grape growers that gives them priority access to some of the finest vineyards in the Barossa.
