A robust full bodied wine.
Region: Mudgee, New South Wales.
Colour: Deep ruby red.
Nose: Sweet plummy, berry fruit, hints of black pepper and integrated subtle toasty oak. Some floral and spice hints add extra interest to the bouquet.
Palate: A robust full bodied Shiraz with integrated fruit and sweet oak, soft tannins balanced with lifted plum and spice characters and great length of flavour.
Oak: 18 months oak.
Food Match: Venison and game pie, Blue Vein cheese or rich dark chocolate.
Winemaker: Adam Bennett / Neil Doddridge

The Winemaker Selection celebrates the winemaker who has made this winery the outstanding producer that it is! The inauguarl release paid tribute to the first winemaker - Gerry Sissingh. He has been an active participant in the Hunter Valley since 1960 when he worked for Lindemans with his involvement with the Rothbury Winery being since the first vintage in 1971, in fact before the winery was built. He is an active champion of Hunter Valley wines, especially Semillon and Shiraz, believing them to be the quintessential Australian wine styles.
