All lifted citrus and nectarine on the nose and continuing on to the palate, ending with a zippy, vibrant finish. Enjoy this mouth-watering Chardonnay with barbecued chilli octopus. • Zonte's Footstep Doctoressa di Lago Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio 2018 (ABV 13%): A Pinot Grigio of impeccable varietal purity that will make an excellent table white for spring. Pear, melon and a touch of peach alongside light floral notes. The palate is like biting into a juicy Nashi pear - crisp and fine, with a zippy acidic finish and soft overtones of melon and peach. Lush and vibrant. A beautiful accompaniment to grilled fish in lemon butter sauce. Enjoy now or cellar until 2021.

  • Alcatraz Clare Valley Riesling 2017 (ABV 13%): Here’s a ripe Clare Valley riesling that’s sure to please. Named ‘Alcatraz’ after one of the Mitchell family’s vineyards, it’s crisp and dry and has plenty of varietal, juicy lime and lemon flavours. The acidity is seamless, the finish long and satisfying. Absolutely everything you’d expect from a Clare Valley Riesling is here in spades. Plenty of flinty acidity, a generous, crisp palate and plenty of aging potential. This crisp, clean Riesling will allow the vibrant flavours south east Asian cuisine to sing. Drink now or cellar until 2026.

  • Mockingbird Hill Slate Lane Clare Valley Shiraz 2016 (ABV 15%): The fruit boasts considerable impact across a splay of black cherry, fig and booze-soused raspberry liqueur. Yet it is the tannins that impress here. Gritty, firm and finely coffee ground across a ferrous mineral underbelly. This is highly impressive regional Shiraz. A complex and charismatic nose of decadent dark berry and subtle spice deliver ample fruit on the palate with lashings of licorice and a hint of coffee and mocha flavour. Fine tannins, elegant oak and impeccable structure abound. The rich palate of this Clare Valley charmer is fantastic for hearty Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. Drink now or cellar until 2025.

  • Wordsmith Single Vineyard Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 (ABV 14.5%): This is Wine Merchant Walter Henao's pick of the pack, “An award winning single vineyard Cabernet expression. Rich, robust and powerful, classic Heathcote. Great aging potential given its concentration and intensity. Will benefit from decanting or aerating ... Deep inky colour. Aromas of blueberries, liquorice, kalamata olives and charred oak. Excellent structure on the palate with blackfruit, nutmeg spice and dried tobacco leaves. Muscular grippy tannins and persistent long finish.” Pair with, “Slow cooked beef cheek, Osso Buco or beef stew.” Drink now or cellar until 2025.

  • Elysian Springs Spring Lamb Syrah 2017 (ABV 14.5%): Youthful purple, vanilla, opulent sweet blue and black fruit, with both elegance and generosity. Nicely plush with charcuterie notes and savouriness. Easy flowing with fine tannins and a long persistent finish. A brambly nose of fresh sage and sarsaparilla root mingling with cloves and deep plum on the nose. On the palate, you’ll find flavours of cranberry and rhubarb with subtle undertones of fennel and an intriguing minerality, all delivered on lingering, fine tannins. Pair with a perfectly-cooked T-bone steak. Drink now or cellar until 2032.
