GISA Old School, Barossa Valley Shiraz/Mataro, comprising 88% premium Barossa Shiraz & 12% Mataro from McLaren Vale. Fermented dry and kept separate in New, 1, 2 & 3 year old French & American oak barrels.
Mataro or Mourvedre originally named after the town of murviedro on Spains, provides a savoury / gamey “umami” flavour of cured meats.
This is a medium bodied textural wine with drive, displaying rich ripe fruits, typicial of the Barossa, tempered by the Mataro from the Vale.
The wine drinks well now, but afforded the time in the cellar will improve the patience over the next 6-8 years.
