A red-fruited, nicely perfumed, St Emilion, the 2016 La Couronne is a blend of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with about 35% new oak in the aging. Showy aromas of deep red fruit and attractive accents of cedar and spice. On the palate, loaded with ripe red currant and berry fruit and cedar, tobacco and spice flavors, all framed by fine, ripe, tannins. Elegant, but not light, and finishing nicely dry and long.
