92-93 points James Suckling: "This is crazy stuff with a super lively acidity and then plenty of fruit and alcohol. Minerally and fruity at the same time. Excellent purity. One of the best ever from here." 90-93 points Wine Spectator: "Bright linzer torte and red cherry fruit is laced with firm licorice and spice, with a pretty fruitcake note on the finish. Solid grip." (03/10) According to Robert Parker: " This wine’s tartness and high acids were surprising, but I was only able to taste it one time, so perhaps the barrel sample I saw was slightly off. Notes of licorice, blueberries and black currants are attractive, but the acid levels were sharp and distracting. This offering may have come out of malolactic fermentation very late and consequently, the wine is not easy to evaluate at present." (05/11) K&L's notes - "Intense blackberry aromas that follow to the palate. A big wine; it will need years to soften."
