Heathcote Shiraz 2013

In keeping with our philosophy of sourcing the best fruit Australia has to offer, we have scoured the country and selected Heathcote in Victoria as a region which complements our Barossa and South Australian offerings and allows us to produce a quintessentially Australian blockbuster Shiraz. Although only recently added to our stable, this wine has been sourced from the same Heathcote vineyards for 25 years, benefitting from the deep red Cambrian derived soils and dry, continental climate.

This luscious shiraz is from the Grono Winery which is located in the Greenock sub-region of the Barossa Valley. The fruit for this wine is carefully selected to show opulent fruit characters and definition of flavour with a focus on physiological ripeness of tannin and concentration. Deep and bright in colour, the nose is reminiscent of plum and blueberry jam with hints of green peppercorn and a complex underscore of straw and old leather. The palate shows more intense ripe berry flavours over a slight hint of tobacco-like oak and a waft of barnyard complexity.
