Umamu EstateSauvignon Blanc Semillon 2010
About this product
Our philosophy has always been to give our wines time to develop in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s market. Enjoying wines when they are ready to drink, rather than straight after bottling, when the wine has had time to develop and balance up in the bottle with no screaming parts.
OurSauvignon Blanc parcel was planted in 1987, while our Semillon parcel in 1997. Bothvine canopies are well managed in order to improve light interception and hence development of flavours during ripening, while reducing any microclimate humidity. Blend is 54% to 36%.

A lot more complex than the standard version of this blend. Shows the normal fresh citrus and grassy tropical characters, albeit in more subdued fashion, but the background of slightly smoky oak adds a new dimension. A beautifully precise and focused wine.

Light straw-green; a prime example of the way the best of these blends - even where sauvignon blanc is the dominant partner - can age with intense grace. Here ripe citrus and guava fruit has a subtext of spicy oak, which plays little role on the cleansing, bright finish.
