Story: Lagrein is a relatively curious north east Italian grape variety well suited to Australian viticultural sites.
Vintage: 2021 was an outstanding vintage for the Adelaide Hills. A wet Spring and early budburst conditions were ideal or flowering and fruit of most varieties. The ripening period remained mild giving the fruit extended time on the vine to achieve excellent flavour and ripeness balance with good levels of natural acidity.
Nose: The nose offers beautifully complex aromas of chocolate, blueberry, plums and rhubarb with a hint of aniseed.
Palate: The palate is rich and opulent with smooth flavours of dark plums, mulberries and spice, complemented by a tight, lingering finish.
Pairing: Try with mild goat curry served with flat bread and cumin infused potato.
Oak maturation: 21 months in seasoned French oak.
Cellaring: Drink now or to 2031
