It's complex and beautifully lifted on the nose showing blackcurrant, cedar, dried herb and anise characters with a light touch of cocoa. The palate displays excellent weight and supple mouthfeel backed by chalky tannins, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2025. AU$23.00. Aug 2020.

The heralded 2017 vintage has produced an excellent release of Angus the Bull. Quality of Angus The Bull Cabernet Sauvignon always hovers around the mark but this 2017 release may well be the best yet. The scaffolding, the texture and medium-weight flavour have been so well pitched. It’s utterly varietal, throws leafy herb and blackcurrant flavours in appropriate measure, and has the kind of firmness to the finish that will see it mature well. It will do ten years in the cellar easily; though of course it’s made to be consumed now.
