Estate-grown. Useful colour presages a firm cabernet of the type one might expect from a cool, not hot, vintage. As it is, blackcurrant, herb and black olive line up in support of each other, standing firm when the tannins come knocking on the door.

You certainly can’t argue with the value on offer here. It’s one of those just-enough wines in flavour terms though it’s built on a firm scaffold of tannin and it extends handsomely through the finish. It’s not bad at all. Curranty fruit with clove, violet and mulberry characters. No real sign of oak. It almost comes across as slender but it’s not skinny. Like it.
