About this product

A harmonious marriage of casks, young and old, creating the perfect balance of sweet fruit and dark smoke, typical of the finest Islay whiskies.
As there is no distillery called Port Askaig, this dram has been named after the ancient ferry port and fishing harbour situated on the East coast of Islay, overlooking the stunningly beautiful Sound of Islay.
Throughout time, Islay-life has posed its challenges—a landscape exposed to the elements, clan-rule of the land and the remoteness of the island itself, have shaped an inner-strength and character in its people, a character reflected in the island's spirit.
Tasting Notes.
Nose: A sultry amalgam of smoke-infused brine / pepper combined with baked citrus and latent creamy vanillas.
Taste: The peat really hits first but settles and becomes peppery and rather woody. It’s little bursts of vanilla, peat smoke then fresh citrus.
Finish: Campfire smoke, tangy lemon and fresh oak.
About the Producer.
Port Askaig is a range of Islay single malt whiskies that embodies the unique spirit of Islay and its people. Its character brings together the robust smokiness and soft fruitiness found in this beguiling island.
The range has been developed to appeal to the most discerning of whisky connoisseurs while also appealing to the novice whisky drinker.
Port Askaig have selected exceptional casks of Islay single malt to create a range recognised as Islay classics. Each expression within the range is bottled in limited batches. While recognising that each bottling will vary, the aim is to achieve a consistency of quality and character over time. To ensure each whisky maintains its original flavour and character, the whiskies are not chill-filtered and no colouring is added.
