As India is too tropical a climate for peat to develop, this expression is made using peated Scottish barley, from Bairds Malting near Inverness, distilled and matured in ex-Bourbon casks at Amrut Distillery in Bangalore.
Unusually dry peat nose; not dissimilar to peat reek absorbed by an old leather armchair; a hint of citrus too.
On the palate the immediate molasses sugar is followed by notes of peat. These build, so the experience becomes that little bit drier and spicier, though not without the molasses refusing to give way.
There's a crystalline depth to the finish. Everything is clear on the palate and the butterscotch vanillins wrap the phenols for a comfortable and clean finale.
