Epic NegociantsAlluvial Fans Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019
About this product
Elegant, vibrant, structured and complex. The Barossa Valley was discovered and named (including the clerical error when registering the name) by Colonel Light in 1839 after the ‘Battle of Barrosa’, a battle Light had fought in. Alluvial fans are the clay, sand and gravel subsoils of the Barossa Valley flats. We select parcels of fruit from this area to produce this contemporary Australian Shiraz with vibrant fruit, structure, poise and complexity.
A young wine that will reward those that cellar for an additional 2-4 years.

Unmistakably, this is a Barossa shiraz. Not big and unwieldy, like they can be, but fresh, medium weighted and retaining all of the characteristics we enjoy about shiraz from that famous region. A mix of vigorous, juicy red and black fruit, a sprinkle of pepper spice and a touch of licorice for added depth, all flowing evenly in the same direction.

Richly fruited and perfumed, the fabulously expressed bouquet shows Black Doris plum, blackberry, vanilla and hazelnut characters with a gorgeous floral overtone. The palate delivers excellent weight and fruit intensity together with fleshy texture and silky tannins, making it immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2029.
