So Pooles Rock looks to its McLaren Vale vineyard, leaving the extreme heat of Hunter Valley to go to one of the cooler vintages of recent times - one regarded by many of its best known winemakers as one of the best on record. The wines have bright, crunchy, acidity, the alcohol half a percent higher than the Hunter Valley, tannins fine but taut, the length as long as you could hope for.
