Baudinet Riesling 2016

PLACE
Clare Valley.
The fruit for our Baudinet Riesling comes from the Trillian’s Hill vineyard owned by Bruce Baudinet and our vineyard manager, Troy van Dulken. At over 500 meters above sea level, this vineyard has a commanding view over many parts of the Clare Valley.

VITICULTURE
A cool and dry spring set the scene for an excellent 2016 vintage with growing concerns about the dry conditions allayed in early January with season saving rains that put things back on track for an excellent harvest. Cooler evening temperatures in February optimising accumulating flavours and natural acid retention.

WINEMAKING
Hand harvesting, gentle pressing and a long cool fermentation period have created a very delicate and linear styled Riesling, one that will last for many years in the cellar, perfectly sealed under its screw capsule.

SENSORY
Colour: Brillant in clarity, pale straw in colour with youthful green tints.
Aroma: Hints of orange blossom, green apples and lemon merangue feature prominantly on the nose, perfectly in unison.
Palate: A palate brimming full of green apples, lemon zest and fine boned linear acidity, beautifully poised and sculptured that guarantees its long potential in the cellar.

CELLARING
At least 20 years.
