The 2016 Big Fine Girl Riesling is a wonderfully pale colour, with a really pretty nose: all quiveringly ripe and fresh apple. There’s freshly sliced apricot too, and some fresh lemon and lime in the background – everything’s intertwined and it’s utterly mouth-watering. That prettiness and delicacy follows onto the palate too: it has an elegance and lightness of touch that makes it so very drinkable.

The grapes are sourced from vineyards in Sevenhill, Auburn, Stanley Flat, Watervale and White Hut, the wine spending 8 months on lees. And indeed, it is a big, fine girl capturing your mouth without any sign of struggle.

From a number of sub-regions in the Clare Valley. Honey and lime, big juicy burst of flavour, with a pleasing flintiness and pretty intense finish, with the barest hint of petrol development creeping in. Drinking very nicely now.
