Vintage 2018
94 points The Wine Front
Single vineyard Yarra Valley syrah, grown on two blocks. The original vines were planted here in 1988. Yarra Valley and shiraz/syrah are a blessed combination. Unfined, unfiltered, lots of whole bunches. It’s a peppery, floral, twiggy shiraz but the fruit is both jellied and sweet and the tannin, as integrated as it is, is fine-grained-bordering-on-silty. The short review is that it’s a beautiful medium-weight wine. Or maybe this is a better review: a couple of sips and I’d pushed the bottle away from the other review bottles so that it can be consumed later. It’s just a wine you want to drink. It’s pretty and it’s structural and it’s peppery. It flows. It’s juicy. It’s good.
