About this product
The concept of blending complementary and compatible grape varieties to create a wine of amplified expression, structure, integration and balance, harnessing each components’ individual strengths to fashion a wine greater than the sum of its manifold components, has long held a fascination for us as wine producers.
This selection from our Glen Garvald Range offers 6 beautifully crafted wines which showcase the versatility of the Yarra as a premium wine region. Made up of 6 wines – Rose, Pinot Noir, Red Blend No. 1 (2 x bottles), GSM, Ornelias.
2025 Rose - This wine takes its stylistic and varietal cues from the intense, dry and savoury styles of France’s Southern Rhône Valley where Grenache Noir is overwhelmingly the main variety utilized in rosé and red wine production. The Rosé represents our continued forays into unlocking the potential of Grenache and its sun loving Mediterranean stablemates as potential key future varieties of the Yarra Valley.
74% Grenache Noir, 12% Mourvèdre, 12% Carignan, 2% Cinsault. This wine is vegan-friendly.
2023 Pinot Noir – As an extension of our explorations into the possibilities of future ‘fits’ for our vineyard plantings, we are delving into trials and subsequent selection of suitable clones from select sites beyond the omnipresent and, so far, unsurpassed Yarra Valley ‘workhorse’ MV6 clone. This approach may well be a lifeline for extending the ongoing viability of this noble variety on the valley floor, in the face of a steadily evolving and warming climate. This wine walks a tense line between sweet-fruited and savoury characters. It bears a brightness of colour with an intensity of varietal fruit. 100% Pinot Noir. This wine is vegan-friendly.
2022 Red Blend No. 1 - Taking its lead from the estimable blends of the southern Rhône Valley, we seek to find a vintage-specific synergy from a harmonious blend resulting in a wine expression beyond the range limit afforded to the singular grape varieties when bottled in isolation. 63% Shiraz: 16% Carignan; 11% Mourvèdre; 10% Grenache Noir. A true food and cheese lover’s wine! This wine is vegan-friendly.
2022 GSM – Built around Grenache Noir as the corner stone, other historically compatible varieties are added to the mix; this time-honoured assemblage of sympatico varieties dips its lid to and raps on the themes of harmony, balance and integration. 59% Grenache Noir, 29% Shiraz, 12% Mourvèdre. This wine is vegan-friendly.
2023 Ornelias - Crafted as a tribute to the pioneering 'Super Tuscan' Vino da Tavola blends of Tuscany, particularly inspired by Marchesi Antinori’s ‘Solaia’ from their Tenuta Tignanello estate and the Bolgheri region in western central Italy. This blend marries the intensely fruited traditional Bordelaise grape variety with the earthy complexity of Sangiovese, drawing on the strengths of each to create a wine of noble rusticity that takes a slightly unconventional path. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon: 20% Sangiovese. This wine is vegan-friendly.
