- Originated in Tuscany and is now widely planted throughout central and southern Italy, dominant grape variety in the Abruzzo region
- Aged in older French oak 20 months
- Medium to full body, deep black-fruit flavors such as boysenberry, blackberry and prune, blue flowers such as violet, spices, dry tannins.
