About this product

Name
Our Grenache was planted in 1928 and we believe this to be very special as these are some of the oldest vines in the district. So we named our Grenache in honour of their age ‘Four Score” being 80+ years old.
Vineyard
The dry grown gnarly Grenache vines on our Foggo Rd vineyard were planted in 1928 in sandy soil, which has meant that the vine has established its root system deep in the soil in search for water. Once old bush vines we pulled these vines up onto trellis to make for easier management and in turn protect the vines from disease and damage.
Winery
Open fermenters for gentle cap management are important with this style of Grenache to ensure gentle extraction of tannin and colour. Partial whole bunch (Carbonic Maceration) is also added to the ferment to give another dimension of flavour to the wine.
Maturation
20 months in 3-year-old American & French Oaks.
Colour
Vibrant brick red.
Nose
A delightful cherry cola presents on the nose on the initial quickly followed by an assortment of charming complexity from Prosciutto to Nutmeg.
Palate
A texturally pleasing lush and rounded palate displays a welcomed gentle cedar oak character completed with a touch of white pepper on the finish.
Potential
10+ Years.
