Thicker Than Water WinesRenaissance Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
About this product
Name:
These two classic grape varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot have combined to rise above their individualism and create a new artistic form. Although a thoroughly modern wine style you will discover after short term cellaring a classic revival ‘Renaissance’.
Vineyard:
Fruit from this vineyard in McLaren Vale and demonstrates our regions ability to produce a variation of varieties. Closer to the Blewitt Springs part of McLaren Vale the soil is very much sandy profile which contributes to those white pepper spice characters.
Winery:
All variety components are fermented separately and transferred to barrel. After 9 months in barrel the blend was assembled prior to bottling.
Maturation:9 Months in older French Oak
Region:
McLaren Vale 100%
Alcohol: 14.5%
Colour:Deep intense dark, almost black with a purple hue.
Nose:
Primary sweet Plum fruit nose with a hint of capsicum spice and dusty oak.
Palate: Medium bodied, less ripe than nose suggests and quite elegant and herbaceous. Good length, plenty of spice and classic firm but fine dusty tannins present from the Cabernet.
Potential: 8 years.

Wine Review: A gorgeous rendition of Bordeaux style, it’s splendidly perfumed on the nose showing dark berry, toasted spice, thyme and cedar notes, followed by a flavoursome palate displaying succulent fruit intensity with plump mouthfeel and silky tannins. Beautifully structured and harmonious with a lengthy delectable finish. At its best: now to 2033.
