Based on the Sommeliers series shapes, it was created by Georg Riedel to make their varietal-specific glassware more widely accessible. During a series of tastings conducted in London and Austria, some of the world's greatest port experts selected this glass as the ideal shape for port, as it highlights the rich fruit and sweet characteristics.
