The phenolic structure of this Helen & Joey Layla Chardonnay, is linked around the palate by a creamy texture and flavours of green apple, sweet marshmallow, anise and fresh herbal notes, finishing clean with white peach, grapefruit and gunflint notes. This wine is medium bodied with a defined acidity that carry’s through the entire palate. Fresh and easy drinking as a young wine, it will, however, reward careful cellaring for up to 10 years from vintage in the right cellar condition.

Medium bodied white wines have a lightly textured mouthfeel with moderate flavour impact. Often pale lemon coloured to pale gold.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

A beautifully composed chardonnay; the inviting bouquet shows grapefruit, nectarine, lemon peel, nougat and cashew characters, leading to a focused palate that is beautifully weighted and rounded. The wine offers terrific fruit purity as well as stylish complexity, wonderfully framed by bright acidity, finishing long and delightful. At its best: now to 2023.
