Volnay Clos de Chenes is a powerhouse and the top cuvée here. The nose brimming with juicy red fruit – airy and delicate – brought forward by a intense earthy minerality. On the palate layers of juicy ripe fruit – very fine energy and freshness. This feels lighter and more airy than the 2015 – as the alcohol level also is somewhat lower – nevertheless it offers a quite impressive level of concentration. This is a truly lovely Volnay in the making – generous, complex and cool.
