Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Nosing reveals ripe dark raspberry and liquorice aromatics with a hint of black cherry, subtle earthy cedar and spice notes also evident. Very ripe and juicy the palate is filled with both dark and black raspberries, liquorice and black cherries over earthy incense like infusions and spicy pepper. There’s some heat to the finish from the lofty 16% alcohol. Opulent mouthfeel with lurking tannins providing some chewiness. Aftertaste of spicy dark to black raspberries, liquorice, ripe black cherries, traces of earth and pepper. A big ripe Chateauneuf du Pape with some warmth on the finish detracting from the wines score.
