About this product

Walmae Makgeolli is a rice wine native to Korea. It is produced by mixing wheat and rice for fermentation which gives the product its unique, pearly appearance and light sweetness. Traditionally a rural delicacy, Makgeolli is now becoming popular with Koreas sophisticated urbanites while still retaining its traditional roots. On the palate it is reminiscent of coconut water rounded out with grassy notes provided by the wheat component. A light and fresh alternative to stronger rice wines.

Great follow thru with a KBBQ, specifically beef, dipped in salt and pepper, wrapped in cos, topped with a bit of kimchi, touch of sesame oil, and a bit of Korea chili powder, followed thru with a sweet shot of mekgeolli. Heaven forbid!!!!

Amazing drink slightly carbonated but good to drink your first drink without shaking, then shake and enjoy the rest. Trouble is, Dan Murphy’s NEVER have it in stock! Very very annoying.

Its not that carbonated, as you can shake it slowly but still won't get that overflow spill that you would get if you shake a beer. Its my first time drinking makgeolli, and my review of it is, its like unripened sake. Smells like spoiled
