Ilegal mezcal is a beautifully balanced vintage mezcal from Tlacolula, Oaxaca Mexico. It is made by a fourth generation Mescalero and his family using 500 year old methods. Mezcal is an agave-based spirit. It is made by roasting the heart of the agave plant, then mashing it, fermenting it, distilling it and distilling it again. Ilegal Reposado is aged for 4 months in American oak barrels. The barrel aging makes this a great Mezcal to serve to friends who are unfamiliar with the spirit.
