About this product

The Thing is the flagship at Sorby Adams where Simon Sorby Adams’ mastery of winemaking, oak and region truly shines.
Sourced from low yielding hand pruned Barossa Shiraz vineyards dating back to the 1930s, these ‘survivor’ vines have incredible quality and structure.
Its blend of 80% Eden Valley and 20% Barossa Valley fruit seamlessly combines to create a wine with elegance and power, and impeccable ageing potential.
Spending 40 months in four year, air dried fine grain French oak provides sophisticated structure and tannins, whilst retaining fruit complexity and richness.
A Barossa Super 100 Classification II wine.
Colour: Deep inky magenta with a purple hue.
Aroma: This is magnificently fruited and gloriously expressed on the nose showing blackberry, spiced plum, chocolate tart, cake spice and cedar characters.
Palate: A sumptuous palate that is opulent and impressively weighted. The wine is powerfully graceful with a seamless flow to an impressively long engaging finish.
Oak: 40-mths in superior 4-year air dried French oak, tight grain, from Francois Frere and Taransaud Coopers.
Cellar: to 2039.
Try with grass-fed, Wagyu beef or well matured hard sheep cheeses - a wine that deserves only the best.
The Thing is a Super 100 Barossa Classification II wine, a marque that demonstrates our commitment to ongoing excellence in crafting a wine of prestige, pedigree and rarity.
