Sorby AdamsLassell Barossa Grenache 2021
About this product
This collection honors our ancestor, John Couch Adams, who, along with fellow mathematicians, proved the existence of the planet Neptune in the 1840s.
His name is immortalized in one of Neptune's five rings.
Lassell is another ring of Neptune and is our signature Barossa old vine Grenache crafted from gnarly bush vines planted in the 1890s.
The wine has a deep ruby color with a red-brick edge. On the palate, it offers fragrant flavours of wild strawberry and cranberry, complemented by a hint of orange zest and accompanied by other aromatic berries, leading to a creamy finish.
It has been matured for 18 months in French oak hogsheads (30% new), coopered using 4-year air-dried wood by Francois Frere and Taransaud Coopers.
The grapes are sourced from the multi-generational Riebke family vineyard in the Ebenezer district of Barossa.
This wine is enjoyable now and has the potential to age beautifully until 2033. This wine is sealed with QORK.

A gorgeous expression, this is stylish and complex on the nose showing sweet cherry, game, cedar and dark cocoa aromas, followed by a succulent palate offering excellent weight and fleshy texture backed by refined tannins. Beautifully flowing with expansive mouthfeel, finishing with sustained delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2033.

Author: Ken Gargett - This, and the rest of the new range, all under cork, are all named after the peers and competitors of Simon’s Neptune-seeking ancestor, from back in the 1840s. Those gentlemen are also celebrated by the naming of the various Rings of Neptune. And now a wine. What could possibly be next? It is all part of the spirit of discovery, which Simon believes is embedded in his winemaking journey. The wine spent 18 months in French oak, 30% of which were new. We’ve seen plenty of superb Grenache in recent years, but this sits with the best of them. A stunner. The colour is a deep red/maroon. The flavours range through red fruits, bay leaves, cherries, spices, raspberries, dry herbs, delicatessen meats and warm earth. A beautifully silky palate and a wine of great length that is sleekly structured. A top-notch Grenache indeed to drink over the next ten years.
