This is the most delicate and fine-boned Chardonnay of my time at Punt Road. Half of the wine went through malolactic conversion. The nose shows citrus, vanilla and white flowers. The palate has lemongrass and ginger, linearity and a touch of class, which manifests itself in a slight waxiness and the restraint of the fruit character. – Tim Shand, Punt Road

Light bodied white wines have a water-light mouthfeel. Often very pale to light colour.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Winemaker, Tim Shand, has trodden the fine line between creating a straight out commercial chardonnay, at a price, and crafting something that could be the pride of the valley. What he's ended up with is a meticulous creation that carries lots of bells and whistles (chardonnay is a wonderful grape for bells and whistles!) at a very agreeable price. Creamily textured, with nectarine and yellow peach notes, a touch of leesy minerality and phenolics, with modest oak and displaying full flavour, great drive and crystal clarity. A chardonnay that represents excellent value and a touch of sophistication.
