The second Blanc de Blancs hails from the hallowed turf of the Côte des Blancs and is sourced from various sites planted on the classic chalky soils that make this the perfect place for terroir driven Chardonnay fruit. The Bergere sites are mainly located around the village of Avize. Again, based mostly on the 2020 vintage there is also 25% of reserve wines (predominantly from 2019) in the final blend 35% of the base wine is fermented in old traditional 228 litre Burgundian barrels.
A terrific expression of the magnificent Côte des Blancs and you can almost taste the chalky soils in the glass. A step up in power but once more the pursuit of freshness is not sacrificed even when the power of the Côte des Blancs is there for all to see and the wine remains tightly wound, pure and focused and more importantly, fresh and moreish. A world class expression of Chardonnay.
