...This release is intensely flavoured and intensely tannic. It’s a strong wine, muscular, leathery, wizened. Blackberries, iodine, bitumen, liquorice, dust, rust. It builds in the glass and cranks out dark, tannic flavour through the sheer grunt of the finish. Quintessential Rutherglen durif. A steal if you like the style.

Deep colour, excellent for a 4yo wine, but then this is durif from old vines made by a master; the black fruits have a substantial foundation of tannins, possibly why its release has been delayed, and it needs - and will repay - another 5 years in the cellar, or a 500g bistecca fiorentina.
