About this product

From Pomerol and an estate that dates back to the 12th century - owned by the Bailliencourts dit Courcol, a family whose name is long in the history of France, and has been at the helm of this winery since the early 1900s. This comes from the east of Pomerol, from dense clay soils set over limestone, and next door to Petrus. Esteemed neighbours. The wine is deep, dark and serious with a reserve that says there is a long way to go, and that approach should be with caution in youth, even if barrel work is limited to 50% new French oak and elevage for a modest 15-or-so months.
