The 2012 Petaluma Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot is approaching its peak. Made under the skilled hand of winemaker, Andrew Hardy, and cellared by us under perfect conditions, the wine retains an excellent ruby colour. 2012 was an outstanding vintage, evidenced here by perfect balance and an unforced feel. Currants and cassis, fleshy black cherry and chinotto, black tea and black olives, dried mint, roasted chestnuts and mocha oak are some of the leading flavours to be enjoyed. A highlight is the soft cocoa powder tannin profile which delivers an all-round velvet mouth-feel. This is an excellent wine at a very good point in its life. It will continue to drink beautifully for another 5 years.
