Dry, Full Bodied style of ShirazCoonawarra, AustraliaMichael Shiraz takes its name from the 1955 Michael Hermitage (Shiraz) a legendary Coonawarra wine which "seemingly gained much of its character from the second-hand fortified wine cask in which it was matured". Although this was a one-off wine, the release of the 1990 Michael Shiraz began a new era for ultra-fine Coonawarra Shiraz. Contemporary vintages are matured in new, and seasoned French oak for up to 15 months. Blackberry/ espresso aromas, fruit complexity, firm chalky/ chocolaty tannins and underlying mocha oak are hallmarks of the style.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.
