This has all the freshness of the other S. C. Pannell wines in terms of blueberries, citrus and fresh Moroccan spices. However, it has an added dimension of darker cherries, ash, dried herbs, dark plums and cassis. Plush on the palate for a grenache, but the tannins remain highly structured and steely with a cascade of dark fruit and dark chocolate. A chewy and very long finish. Drink in 2025.

70% grenache (74yo vines), 30% shiraz fermented and matured separately, blended Jun '17 and returned to vats and hogsheads for 4 months before bottling. A complex bouquet with the black fruits, licorice and spice of shiraz outgunning the red fruits of grenache, but it's a neat blend all up, grenache not unhappy with its lot.
