Vintage 1998

Wide, fat and syrupy, but then that's the 1998 vintage. It drinks like an airport novel, all guts and kisses, like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Syrupy blackberry. A soft mesh of oak. Length. Balance. Fruit integrity. A tarry earthiness that is pure Barossa. It is a very good wine, a mouth-romp. It is a wine to be lavished and enjoyed. But it is not the classic piece of contemplation it might have seemed on release.
