While RWT is a relative new-comer, it adds great diversity to the Penfolds stable of iconic red wines. Sourced from vineyards on the western edge of the Barossa Valley, namely from Kalimna, Moppa and Ebenezer and matured in 100% French Oak, RWT epitomises contemporary Barossa Shiraz. The 2003 vintage was a warm and difficult year resulting in a stringent selection of fruit find the regions best. The result is a classic RWT that is just starting to come out of its shell.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

The powerful, complex, dark purple-hued 2003 Shiraz RWT, which comes from the Barossa and spends 15 months in 70% new and 30% used 300 liter French oak barrels, boasts blackberry, kirsch liqueur, mulberry, soy, and road tar aromas. Full-bodied, dense, and rich with beautifully integrated oak, it is more evolved and forward than the Magill or the Grange. It can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15+ years.
