Taltarni's Heathcote Shiraz is grown on a single vineyard and then matured in American oak hogsheads for 24 months. It smells and tastes good. Always a good start. Smoky bacon, cloves, plums, spearmint and dry, gritty earth. It's a full-bodied style but it is not overly sweet. It has a polished class about it, in spite of its long, dry, structured character. Alcohol warmth shows fairly keenly but I'd argue that the weight of fruit carries it. Quality wine all over.

Vintage 2007
92 points The Wine Front
This 2007 is not a hard wine to like. It''s beautifully structured. Beautifully fruited. Blackberries, cloves, eucalypt and integrated cedary oak. Indeed I kept coming back to this wine and admiring how fine and well managed it is. Near-perfect tannin set. My only issue with the wine is its alcohol warmth, which for me detracts from the wine significantly.
