This is an excellent wine that is predominantly cabernet with tiny amounts of the aromatic cab franc, and the colour and tannins from the petit verdot. It's a deep, dark red colour. The nose is quite beautiful, with dominant blackcurrant, bay leaf, and olive tapenade, with a nice lift of oyster shell minerality. The palate is quite sublime, with deep, dark, concentrated fruits supported by fine chalky tannins and some neatly applied oak, of which just 28% was new. It's created a wine that is velvety smooth, quite supple, but still with cabernet structure and poise. Outstanding value for a wine of this quality. Cellar: 10 years.
