Cabernet Merlot blends are, surprisingly, losing favour, at least in the eastern states. Thank goodness there are wines such as Domaines Paul Mas Cab-Merlot to keep the flag flying. This is a wine that we have carried for many years and watched evolve from vintage to vintage. The latest version displays a wonderful elegance and structure quite unexpected in a wine of this price. Medium to full bodied, the wine impresses with its surely handled red and black fruit (red and black currant), subtle oak, super-fine tannins, and smooth, long conclusion. This is a stylish red that represents very good value considering the winemaking skills employed.
