Mike Bennie and I visited Nick and Gary Farr at By Farr/Farr Rising a couple of weeks back and while I haven't had a chance to talk to Bennie about it, I came away seriously impressed. This viognier caught me by surprise. The first thing I wrote was “drinking style rather than a tasting style�. It's not overly hedonistic; it's a wine you can sit and drink. You'd almost call it crisp. It sees some old oak and has a softness as a result. It tastes of stones and apricots. It's not fat or oily, it's compact. It belongs on restaurant tables.
