Beechworth Chardonnay

About this product

A love of chardonnay was one of the reasons Hugh and Raquel Jones chose Beechworth. A mix of regional soils, with decomposed mudstone, granite and quartz producing some of Australia’s best expressions of chardonnay.
Fruit is handpicked on three separate days. The earlier pick provides the aromatics and a boost of natural acidity, whilst the latter two picks impart weight and texture. Whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented wild in French oak (25% new). Elegant and flavoursome, it tastes of grilled peach and flint, oatmeal and almonds. This wine is wonderfully balanced - the natural acidity, oak use and alcohol weight work in harmony, producing a fine chardonnay.
All fruit is estate grown by Raquel Jones using both biological and organic practices and entirely hand-harvested. Raquel makes her wines on-site, within 200m of the vineyard, using gentle methods of winemaking; allowing the fruit to speak for itself.
