Hardy's have access to a superb suite of chardonnay vineyards in key locations. Eileen Hardy Chardonnay is their "best of the best" , and, as such, ranks among the best chardonnays produced in Australia in most years. The 2013 was sourced from Tasmania and cooler parts of the Yarra Valley. Careful cellaring has seen the youthful linear grapefuit and mineral profile bloom, introducing a delicious toast and citrus peel character. Stonefruit, nuts, butterscotch, nettles and a buzz of ginger acidity to keep it clean and fresh, all make appearances. This is a lovely, complex and intense chardonnay which should be enjoyed with your best friends over the next 3 years. (Tasted June, 2022)

First made in 1986. Used to be all Padthaway back then, made into the full peaches and cream style. Times have certainly changed. This 2013 is a blend of Tasmania (65%) and Yarra Valley grapes. Lean, grapefruity style with marzipan and custard cream from oak. Spears through the palate. Oak and fruit beautifully integrated. Toasty, oatmeal-y, lemon rindy finish. Flavours push out appreciably through the aftertaste. Complexities embedded. White and yellow peach. Golden delicious apples. Spice. Chardonnay of terrific purity and length. Striking.
