Campbell Mattinson (2014) - "I suspect it will look great as an older wine." Fast forward to Jan. 2022. The colour is terrific for a 13 year old wine, still showing some youthful glints. Classic Margaret River bay leaf, smoky bacon, chocolate, perfectly ripened sweet blue and red fruit, juniper, very gentle French oak integration. Supremely elegant. A Margaret River classic. Age has done wonders for this wine, and will continue to do so for years to come.

The Leeuwin cabernets are finally starting to sing with greater consistency and resonance as the work that has been done in the vineyard and winery pays dividends. This is a beauty, and an excellent follow-up to the terrific 2008. Blackcurrant aromas, with a dusty, cedars overlay of oak, dark plums and light leaf. The palate is seamless and balanced, with a silky texture created by supple tannins and fine-grained oak.
